The Commander of the Royal Brunei Air Force (RBAirF), Brigadier General (BG) (U) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sahat called on Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen at the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) this morning. During the meeting, Dr Ng and BG (U) Dato Hamzah reaffirmed the close and long-standing bilateral defence relationship between Singapore and Brunei.
Prior to calling on Dr Ng, BG (U) Dato Hamzah called on Chief of Defence Force Lieutenant-General Melvyn Ong and Chief of Air Force Major-General Mervyn Tan, and reviewed a Guard of Honour at MINDEF. BG (U) Dato Hamzah, who is in Singapore for his introductory visit from 8 to 10 January 2019, also visited the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF)’s Air Force Training Command this afternoon.
BG (U) Dato Hamzah’s visit underscores the strong defence ties between the RBAirF and the RSAF. Both air forces interact regularly through a wide range of activities such as bilateral exercises, cross-attendance of courses, visits and professional exchanges. Such interactions have fostered mutual understanding and enhanced interoperability, and also built strong rapport and camaraderie among the personnel of both air forces.
