The Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Air Force (TNI-AU), Air Chief Marshal (ACM) Hadi Tjahjanto, called on Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen at the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) this morning after inspecting a Guard of Honour. ACM Hadi also called on Chief of Defence Force Lieutenant-General (LG) Perry Lim and Chief of Air Force Major-General (MG) Mervyn Tan. The close ties between the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) and the TNI-AU were reaffirmed in the meetings. As part of his visit programme from 8 to 9 March 2017, ACM Hadi will visit Paya Lebar Air Base this afternoon and take a familiarisation flight on board an RSAF Super Puma helicopter.
The introductory visit by ACM Hadi underscores the close and long-standing bilateral defence relationship between Singapore and Indonesia. The RSAF and the TNI-AU have been exercising together since 1980 under Exercise Elang Indopura. Apart from exercises, both air forces also have regular visits, professional exchanges and cross-attendance of courses. These interactions have built mutual understanding and enhanced the professionalism and camaraderie between the personnel from both air forces.
