Singapore and Indonesian Air Forces Commemorate 'RISING50' with Unprecedented Aerial Salute in Singapore

As part of the Singapore-Indonesia Leaders' Retreat, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Indonesian President Joko Widodo witnessed a combined flypast performed by the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) and the Indonesian Air Force (TNI-AU), as well as a joint military band performance by the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) Band and the TNI Academy Drum Band this afternoon at the Marina Bay Cruise Centre Singapore. The event was jointly organised by the two countries' air forces to commemorate 'RISING50' with the leaders, Ministers and senior officials from both countries.

The combined flypast, made up by 10 RSAF F-16s and 10 TNI-AU F-16s, performed two flypast profiles over the Marina South area. The first profile was an 'arrow-head' formation led by the RSAF, followed by the second profile of a combined '50' formation 20 minutes later, where the digit '5' was flown by the TNI-AU and the digit '0' was flown by the RSAF. Following closely behind the combined flypast, five RSAF F-15SGs performed a bomb burst manoeuvre to conclude the aerial salute to the two nations.

This is the largest and most complex combined flypast that the RSAF has conducted with any foreign air force to date. It underscores the close and long-standing bilateral relationship between Singapore and Indonesia for the past 50 years, and is a strong testament to the interoperability and mutual understanding between the two air forces.
