The Singapore Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) and the United States (US) Department of Defense (DoD) recently signed a Security of Supply Arrangement (SOSA). The arrangement was signed by Mr. Melvyn Ong, MINDEF’s Permanent Secretary (Defence Development) and Dr. William A. LaPlante, US Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment.
The SOSA is a bilateral, non-binding arrangement that enables the US and Singapore to better address unanticipated supply chain disruptions. The arrangement allows both countries to request for priority delivery of critical and urgent industrial resources to meet defence needs.
The signing of the SOSA demonstrates the long-standing and mutually beneficial defence technology cooperation between Singapore and the United States.
