In April 2019, 20 full-time National Servicemen (NSF) medics were sent on a 12-week attachment at the National University Hospital (NUH) Emergency Medicine Department. This is part of a pilot project to attach medics to emergency departments of restructured hospitals. Prior to the attachment, these medics had completed a 11-week medic training programme at the SAF Medical Training Institute. The attachment of our NSF medics to NUH had provided them with valuable hands-on opportunities to sharpen their medical competencies in casualty management.
