The Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) participated in Exercise Super Garuda Shield (XSGS) 2025, which was held in Indonesia from 25 August to 4 September 2025. Co-hosted by the Indonesian National Defence Forces and the United States Indo-Pacific Command, the 4th edition of the multilateral exercise involved assets and personnel from 13 countries and saw various training components conducted across multiple locations in Indonesia.
Brigadier-General Wong Pui Chuan, Chief Guards Officer, who attended the XSGS 25 opening ceremony, highlighted the exercise's significance in strengthening defence cooperation. BG Wong said, "Exercise Super Garuda Shield 2025 continues to serve as an important platform for the SAF to deepen our professional ties and enhance interoperability with participating armed forces. As a large-scale, multilateral joint exercise, it sharpens our operational capabilities, while fostering stronger collaboration and mutual understanding among partners."
The SAF deployed a joint delegation comprising personnel across the Services. The Singapore Army participated in a jungle field training exercise and a combined arms live-firing exercise in Batu Raja alongside other participating forces. A joint staff planning exercise was conducted in Jakarta, involving personnel from the Singapore Army and the Republic of Singapore Navy. The Digital and Intelligence Service (DIS) participated in a cyber defence exercise with international counterparts in Jakarta.
The SAF has participated in XSGS since its inception in 2022.
