The Singapore Army and the Indian Army participated in the 14th edition of Exercise Bold Kurukshetra, a bilateral armour exercise held from 28 July to 3 August 2025 at Jodhpur Cantonment, India. Hosted by the Indian Army, the flagship bilateral exercise involved soldiers from the 42nd Battalion, Singapore Armoured Regiment and the 340th (Independent) Mechanised Brigade and 1st Mechanised Infantry (I MADRAS) from the Indian Army. Both armies participated in a bilateral command post exercise and engaged each other in professional exchanges.
The SAF’s Deputy Chief Armour Officer, Colonel Andy Quek, who co-officiated the closing ceremony with the Indian Army’s Brigadier-General Pritam, Commander 340th (Independent) Mechanised Brigade, said, “Our troops were able to engage in rigorous map planning, shared tactics, techniques, and procedures, and most importantly, learned from one another in a meaningful and constructive way. Our soldiers greatly appreciated the sharing from their counterparts in the Indian Army.”
Exercise Bold Kurukshetra is conducted under the ambit of the Bilateral Agreement for Joint Army Training and Exercises between the Singapore Army and the Indian Army. First conducted in 2005, this exercise underscores the strong and longstanding bilateral defence relationship between both countries and cooperation between the two armies. This iteration of the exercise took place at a significant time as both countries commemorate 60 years of diplomatic relations. Both defence establishments also interact regularly through high-level visits, policy dialogues, courses, and other professional exchanges.
