Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) Major General (MG) Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Aminan bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud called on Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen this morning. During their meeting, Dr Ng and MG Pengiran Dato Aminan reaffirmed the close and long-standing bilateral defence relationship between Singapore and Brunei. They discussed Singapore's ASEAN Defence Ministers' Meeting Chairmanship and MG Pengiran Dato Aminan conveyed Brunei's support on Singapore's Chairmanship deliverables, including the proposed guidelines on air encounters between military aircraft. MG Pengiran Dato Aminan, who is in Singapore for his introductory visit from 2 to 4 April 2018, also called on Chief of Defence Force MG Melvyn Ong, as well as reviewed a Guard of Honour at the Ministry of Defence earlier today.
As part of his programme, MG Pengiran Dato Aminan was hosted by MG Ong to a visit to the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Command at Murai Camp, where he received a brief on the Republic of Singapore Air Force's UAV operations and had a hands-on experience on the UAV training simulators. MG Pengiran Dato Aminan also visited 194 Squadron, the Information Fusion Centre and the Changi Regional Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief Coordination Centre at RSS Singapura-Changi Naval Base this afternoon.
MG Pengiran Dato Aminan's visit underscores the close and long-standing defence relations between Singapore and Brunei. The Singapore Armed Forces and the RBAF interact regularly through a wide range of activities such as bilateral exercises, regular visits and professional exchanges. Such interactions have fostered mutual understanding and enhanced interoperability between the two militaries, and strengthened the rapport and camaraderie between personnel of both armed forces.
