The Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Army (TNI-AD) General (GEN) Mulyono called on Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen at the Ministry of Defence this morning.
GEN Mulyono, who is in Singapore for his introductory visit from 1 to 4 September 2016, had earlier inspected a Guard of Honour, and called on Chief of Defence Force Lieutenant-General Perry Lim and Chief of Army Major-General Melvyn Ong. Both sides reaffirmed the strong ties and close professional cooperation between the two armies, and reiterated their mutual commitment to continue to strengthen defence ties. As part of his visit, GEN Mulyono also visited the Army’s Armour Headquarters.
GEN Mulyono’s introductory visit underscores the close and long-standing defence relations between Singapore and Indonesia. The Singapore Army and the TNI-AD interact regularly through bilateral exercises, high-level visits, professional exchanges and cross-attendance of courses. These extensive interactions have strengthened interoperability and deepened mutual understanding between the two armies.
