Singapore and the Philippines Sign Arrangement to Strengthen Cooperation in Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief

Philippines Senior Undersecretary Carlito Galvez Jr., Officer-in-Charge, Department of National Defense is in Singapore to attend the 20th Shangri-La Dialogue (SLD). Senior Undersecretary Carlito Galvez called on Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen at the Shangri-La Hotel this afternoon.
During the meeting, Dr Ng and Senior Undersecretary Galvez reaffirmed the warm and friendly bilateral defence relations between Singapore and the Philippines. This was underscored by the signing of the Arrangement concerning the Conduct of Education, Training Assistance and Support Activities on Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief. The Arrangement will further deepen the bilateral defence cooperation between the Singapore Armed Forces and the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
Dr Ng and Senior Undersecretary Galvez also discussed regional security developments and multilateral cooperation through the ASEAN Defence Ministers' Meeting.
As part of his visit to Singapore, Senior Undersecretary Galvez also spoke at the plenary session titled "Building a Stable and Balanced Asia-Pacific" during the 20th SLD.
