Singapore Hosts 16th Shangri-La Dialogue

Singapore will host the 16th Shangri-La Dialogue (SLD) from 2 to 4 June 2017. Organised by the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), this year's Dialogue is attended by some 22 ministerial-level delegates and 12 Chiefs of Defence Force, as well as senior defence officials and academics from 39 countries. Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull is the Keynote Speaker for the SLD this year.
Singapore Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen will speak at the fifth plenary session on 4 June on the topic "Global Threats and Regional Security". As part of the SLD, Dr Ng will host visiting ministers and their representatives to two Roundtable discussions on 3 and 4 June respectively. Dr Ng will also conduct bilateral meetings with ministers and senior officials from several countries on the sidelines of SLD.
The SLD was initiated in 2002, and serves as the premier defence and security conference in the Asia-Pacific region.
