The Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF) Air Chief Marshal (ACM) Chaiyapruk Didyasarin was conferred Singapore's prestigious military award, the Pingat Jasa Gemilang (Tentera), or Meritorious Service Medal (Military) [MSM(M)], by President Halimah Yacob. Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen presented the award to ACM Chaiyapruk at an investiture held at the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) this morning.
ACM Chaiyapruk was awarded the MSM(M) for his significant contributions in strengthening the close and long-standing defence relations between Singapore and Thailand. Bilateral defence relations between the Republic of Singapore Air Force and the RTAF have deepened under ACM Chaiyapruk's leadership. Both air forces engage in regular professional exchanges, cross-attendance of courses, and multilateral exercises such as Exercise Cope Tiger. These interactions have enhanced the interoperability between both air forces and increased the rapport and trust between the airmen of both countries.
ACM Chaiyapruk, who is in Singapore from 31 July to 2 August 2019, also called on Dr Ng, Chief of Defence Force Lieutenant-General Melvyn Ong and Chief of Air Force Major-General Kelvin Khong, and reviewed a Guard of Honour at MINDEF prior to the investiture.
