How Might You… Name Our Innovation Movement?

About the challenge

The Million Hours Challenge is one of the Public Sector Transformation (PST) initiatives that aims to achieve the collective goal of saving 3 million hours of transaction time for citizens and public officers.

Imagine saving time and spending it on more important things, such as engaging in meaningful work, activities, or spending time with your family. Saving time is just one aspect of this challenge; equally important is how lives are made better as a result of the innovation efforts.

Who can participate?

If you have a project that meets the criteria, you are welcome to submit it to us. Want to know whether your project fits the bill? Here are some parameters to guide you:

• Projects that were implemented from Nov 2018 onwards
• Projects that resulted in substantial time saving (you may also highlight those projects with significant projected time saving too)
• Ground up innovative solutions are preferred
• Projects that help in Service or Workplace journey

Wondering what kind of projects should be submitted to the challenge? Here are some examples submitted by other public service agencies:

• Using drones to inspect tunnels – Land Transport Authority (LTA)
• • LTA is trialling the use of drones to inspect train tunnel structures. LTA staff no longer need to erect mobile scaffoldings because drones can now capture images for inspection, thus generating time savings for the LTA officers.
• 
• Mobile Tele-Medicine – Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP)
• • NP has re-imagined how we consult with physicians through tele-medicine. Students and teachers can now consult a doctor without needing to step out of their homes! e-MCs and medications will also be delivered to them. Such convenience helps save time for the users.
• 
• Enabling faster collection of rat droppings – National Environment Agency (NEA)
• • A team in NEA has introduced a motorised equipment to collect rat droppings in unreachable areas. This innovation improves their work efficiency and safety. Shopping mall stakeholders are also happier with the reduced time taken to clean up their work environments.

From ECP:

• Take Exit 2B on ECP (Xilin Ave towards Tampines)
• Turn right to Changi South Ave 1
• Turn left into the Campus carpark (before the sports complex), after the traffic junction of Somapah Road and Changi South Ave 1

From PIE:

• Take Exit 4A on PIE (Simei Ave)
• Turn left to Upper Changi Road East
• Turn right to Somapah Road
• Turn left to Changi South Ave 1
• Turn left into the Campus carpark (before the sports complex)

The carpark rate at SUTD is as shown below. Please ensure that there are sufficient funds in your cash card prior to exiting the carpark.

By Public Transport

Transportation details to SUTD via public transport are as follow:

Via MRT

• Alight at Upper Changi MRT Station (DT34) and take Exit B – SUTD Campus will be on your left when you exit the station.
• Alight at Expo MRT Station (DT35 / CG1) and walk to SUTD Campus - along Changi South Avenue 1 in the direction of Max Pavilion/Somapah Road.

Via Bus

• Somapah Road. Take bus service number 20.
• Upper Changi Road East. Take bus service numbers 2, 5 or 24.
• Changi Business Park Bus Terminal. Take bus service numbers 47 or 118.
