Learning and development
People are the essence of our success and we are committed to providing DXOs with a good environment for learning and development at both professional and personal levels.

Academic sponsorships
If you perform well, training awards and sponsorships such as the MINDEF Postgraduate Award and Part-time Degree Sponsorship are available for you to pursue further studies.

Functional courses
You will attend courses and seminars which will equip you with professional skills and knowledge that are relevant to your job area. The functional courses are tiered at different levels (e.g. basic, intermediate, advance) and you will be scheduled to attend courses at the appropriate level.

Organisation-driven courses
There are milestone programmes in place to develop your core competencies. The focus for these programmes range from on-boarding of new hires, shaping of defence perspective, equipping basic skill sets, leadership development, gaining a deeper understanding of the Singapore Public Service and Whole-of-Government perspective.

Self-initiated courses
Beyond the courses arranged by the HR department, you can initiate your own learning to enhance your core competencies with the training credits provided to you annually.

Talent management programme
With proven performance and ability to take on bigger responsibilities, there are opportunities for you to be placed on our talent management programme, where you are given further opportunities for exposure and development in MINDEF.

Benefits
Ensuring your welfare
Our competitive employment package is regularly revised as you progress in your career as a DXO. Apart from core provisions such as annual leave, medical leave/benefits, you will also receive other flexible benefits that look after your well-being, family, and career development.

Market competitive remuneration
A competitive salary and benefit package , including performance-based rewards, 18 days annual leave, 14 days medical leave (up to 60 days if hospitalised), and more.

Training credits
To facilitate DXOs in the fulfilment of their plan, MINDEF provides credits and time for DXOs to pursue self-initiated learning and development, which is over and above the courses arranged by HR.

Flexible and family-friendly work arrangements
Flexible work hours and arrangements are available for DXOs to better harmonise work and life. Various leave schemes are also in place to provide for a family-friendly work environment. Such schemes include maternity leave, paternity leave, childcare leave, parent-care leave and compassionate leave.

Medical benefits
MINDEF provides all DXOs with S$300,000 Group Term Life and S$300,000 Group Personal Injury insurance coverage during the tenure of their service. The premiums are paid for by MINDEF. DXOs also have the option to purchase additional coverage at competitive premiums. They will also receive subsidised outpatient treatment (up to a capped amount), and dental benefits.

Welfare Benefits
