Counselling
Counsellors are instrumental in providing counselling and psychotherapy to various departments and our defence personnel. They address a wide range of concerns including mental health, grief and loss, intrapersonal and interpersonal challenges, trauma, and addiction. Their expertise extends to crisis intervention and case management. Additionally, they develop preventive educational programmes, offer counselling and psychological first aid training for commanders, managers, and paracounsellors, and actively promote psychological health and well-being within MINDEF and the SAF.
Defence Psychology
As specialists in the field of psychology, psychologists play a crucial role in providing psychological research, consultation, and services in personnel assessment and profiling, population sensing and profiling, behavioural change, performance enhancement, and mental health. Their expertise encompasses a wide range of applied psychological research projects and services, including the assessment and selection of personnel, and the provision of professional services to enhance organisational effectiveness and readiness. Their work is instrumental in ensuring the psychological well-being and readiness of the defence force, making a profound impact on operational effectiveness.
Paramedical
DXOs in the Paramedical job family form the backbone of healthcare support for our defence personnel. They provide diagnostic procedures, administer treatment, and therapeutic interventions. Their role extends to ensuring the seamless operation of day-to-day healthcare facilities and continually optimising efficient and quality healthcare delivery. Additionally, they provide effective medical support through staff training, developing training programmes, assessing training needs, and conducting training sessions in line with the best practices in the healthcare field. The sub-job families encompass medical operations and management, medical training, and soldier's performance, collectively contributing to the well-being and readiness of our defence force.
