Defence Policy & Communications
Learn how Defence Executive Officers shape Singapore’s defence policies and communications to safeguard national interests and build public support for defence.
Introduction
Ever wondered who shapes and advances Singapore's security interests, promotes defence objectives, and advocates Singapore as a preferred security cooperation partner in the region?
DXOs in the Defence Policy and Strategic Communications job families do just that! With their strong communication skills, they craft a compelling narrative that fosters a deep sense of commitment to our country and defence agenda among Singaporeans, while also influencing how Singapore is regarded by the global community.
Defence Policy
DXOs in the Defence Policy job family are at the forefront of shaping Singapore's defence landscape. They secure Singapore’s peace and security in a dynamic security environment through the formulation and execution of defence policies, plans and strategies. They are the architects of long-term strategies and leaders in fortifying defence relations with partner countries. Additionally, they foster an open and inclusive regional security architecture, and make impactful contributions to international security.
Whether you are a DXO or Military personnel, we are all equal and have the same mission to contribute towards Singapore’s security.— Jasmine Ng, Assistant Director (Defence Policy)

Strategic Communications
DXOs in the Strategic Communications (SC) job family strategise, plan, execute and evaluate communication objectives for MINDEF and the SAF. They cover public communications, internal communications and community engagement, with expertise in communication strategies, crisis communications, media relations, content creation, message framing, media monitoring, research and analysis, and information technology. These multifaceted efforts aim to bolster public trust and elevate the reputation of MINDEF and the SAF both locally and internationally.
I thoroughly enjoy the intellectual challenge of looking at issues from multiple perspectives, and thinking through angles that could impact Singaporeans' commitment to our defence, or the international community's perception of our country.— Angelina Chung, Deputy Director (Engagement)
