Finance
From budgeting to accounting, auditing, and policy making, DXOs in the Finance job family serve as custodian of our defence budgets. They ensure that financial resources are optimally managed through sound governance and compliance. These financial experts play a crucial role in establishing and enforcing finance policies to govern the prudent use of funds in compliance with rules and regulations, safeguarding the integrity of our financial operations.
I review and formulate finance policies that maintain an adequate level of governance on the spending of our defence budget. Human resources
At the heart of the Human Resource (HR) job family, DXOs play a pivotal role in the development and welfare of our most important defence asset – our defence personnel. From shaping manpower policies to strategic business partnering, DXOs oversee vital areas such as manpower planning, welfare management, rewards and recognition, as well as career and performance management. Their dedication ensures that our defence personnel are well-supported.

Internal audit
DXOs in the Internal Audit job family conduct reviews across departments involved in Finance, Logistics, Manpower, IT, and Procurement, to drive improvements in managing defence resources. They implement leading practices in control and risk management, providing objective assurance, advice, and insight through audits and reviews. Their role also involves assisting all levels of management in MINDEF and the SAF to enhance policies, programmes, operations and processes.
Legal
Legal counsels and military prosecutors provide essential legal support to MINDEF, SAF and MINDEF-related organisations. Their expertise spans across domestic civil law, military law, operations law, and public international law, enabling them to provide crucial legal support and oversight. From advising on complex legal matters to ensuring the fair conduct of military prosecutions, their work is pivotal in upholding the rule of law.
Logistics
Logistics is a vital enabler for MINDEF/SAF operations and training, essential to mission success. DXOs in the Logistics job family play a key role in managing assets and resources to enable operations. They ensure effective logistics processes through sound governance and meticulous planning. Spanning across diverse fields such as supply chain management, inventory management, procurement, and facilities management, DXOs serve as custodians of MINDEF/SAF resources. They ensure business continuity even in the face of disruptions. Actively participating in the digitalisation journey, they leverage technologies and industry best practices to achieve optimal logistics efficiency and effectiveness, while prudently using resources to support MINDEF/SAF's mission.
Service delivery
DXOs in the Service Delivery job family are the driving force behind exceptional experiences. They are responsible for developing and implementing policies and plans for the services provided to citizens and employees of MINDEF and SAF. Additionally, they manage the organisation’s digital solutions and channels for service delivery, while also enhancing the physical workplaces and experiences for employees.
