Following the successful conclusion of Exercise Bersama Shield, our Victory-class Missile Corvette RSS Vigilance conducted a passage exercise (PASSEX) with Royal Australian Navy’s Hobart-class Guided Missile Destroyer HMAS Sydney on 21 April 2025 at the lower reaches of South China Sea.
Both navies conducted a range of serials from Publication Exercise (PUBEX), Manoeuvring Exercise (MANEX) to Photo Exercise (PHOTOEX). Both ships also exchanged sea riders as part of the PASSEX.
RSS Vigilance and HMAS Sydney came together to participate in a MANEX.
Sea riders from HMAS Sydney embarked on RSS Vigilance where they observed our bridge watch-keeping operations and even had a chance to try steering the ship!

During the exchange, our sailors also had the opportunity to embark on HMAS Sydney, where they had a fruitful time sharing domain knowledge.
Ending the PASSEX with a sailpast!
The RSN conducts regular PASSEXes with our counterparts around the world to enhance mutual understanding. These professional interactions have also enabled the RSN to keep our ties warm with our counterparts.
