Introduction
Army Open House 2022 (AOH22) will make a return to the F1 Pit Building after five years. Themed "Generations of Strength" to commemorate 55 years of National Service, AOH22 will comprise the AOH22 Virtual Exhibition, AOH22@F1 Pit Building and AOH22@Heartlands to showcase the Army's hardware, software and heartware to engage Singaporeans of all ages.
AOH22 will feature a range of interactive activities where visitors can view over 20 different Army platforms, get up close with the different Army Formations and enjoy Battle Rides on various Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) platforms. There will be a mission-based night walk, an outdoor obstacle course and other hands-on activities to provide visitors with an immersive and exciting experience. To take part in the Drone Arena, Be A Marksman, Battle Rides and Soldier Strong Obstacle Course, bookings can be made on-site at the F1 Pit Building.
Visitors can also learn more about the evolution of National Service (NS) over the past 55 years, as well as achievements of our national servicemen in defending and safeguarding Singapore through the NS55 Showcase.
The AOH22 Virtual Exhibition will be accessible on the AOH22 website from 16 May to 12 June. The Main Exhibition will be open to public from 28 to 30 May at the F1 Pit Building. A slice of AOH22 will subsequently move to the heartlands (AOH22@Heartlands): (i) Punggol from 3 to 5 June; and (ii) Bishan from 10 to 12 June. Members of public will have to book tickets for entry into the Main Exhibition at the F1 Pit Building and AOH22@Heartlands. Ticket-booking will be on a first-come-first-serve basis. AOH22 Virtual Exhibition
For the first time, the Army is integrating both physical and virtual components of AOH to deliver an immersive experience to the public and reach a wider audience. The Virtual Exhibition, hosted on the AOH22 website from 16 May to 12 June, features different interactive elements and games for visitors to learn more about the Army's Formations, operational capabilities and platforms, as well as the professionalism of our soldiers.
NS55 Showcase. A replica of the physical exhibition, the NS55 showcase aims to bring you through generations of NS and includes an interactive video featuring servicemen from the SAF and the Home Team. It ends off with a space for visitors to pledge support for NS, and for national servicemen to share their NS stories.
Online Games. Five games are created within the 11 zones hosted on the AOH22 website. Visitors stand a chance to win AOH22 souvenirs: (i) spot the soldier with the aid of night-fighting equipment in Experience The Night; (ii) drive combat vehicles and avoid obstacles in Battle Rides; (iii) Be A Marksman in the virtual SAR 21 shooting range; (iv) pilot a drone and bypass obstacles in the Drone Arena; and (v) complete the obstacle course in Soldier Strong.
Downloadable Content. Visitors can download content from the virtual exhibition for their own use. There are stickers that can be downloaded from Our Army Formations for messaging applications such as WhatsApp and Telegram. There are also 15 Army-themed colouring sheets which are downloadable from the Kids Zone.
Showcase and Highlights. Visitors can conveniently watch livestreams and highlights from the physical sites of AOH22.
AOH22@F1 Pit Building
The Main Exhibition will feature signature AOH components, activities and shows, and is open to public from 28 to 30 May. It comprises 13 zones – Our Army Platforms, Our Army Formations, NS55 Showcase, Kids Zone, Technology Zone, Experience The Night, Drone Arena, Be A Marksman, Battle Rides, Soldier Strong Arena, Soldier Strong Obstacle Course, Army Showcase, and Main Stage performances. Refer to Annex B for more information.
Our Army Platforms. A line-up of the Army's military platforms will be on display. Visitors can get up close and take pictures with various combat, combat support, and combat service support platforms. Army personnel will also be on-site to provide interesting facts about these platforms.
Army Formations Zone. The 16 immersive and engaging Formation booths will allow visitors a hands-on experience with the wide array of weapons and equipment used by soldiers.
NS55 Showcase. This year marks 55 years of NS. Visitors can look forward to an experiential exhibition and learn about the evolution of NS through the years, as well as achievements of national servicemen in defending and safeguarding Singapore. The exhibition is segmented into three distinct zones:
Zone 1: NS through the Generations. Visitors will get to experience NS though interactive displays and objects within the exhibition. There will be story-telling exhibits, augmented-reality features, and hands-on activities from the SAF and the Home Team.
Zone 2: The Strength Within. This zone will feature an immersive 4D multisensory show that allows visitors to experience how national servicemen operate and safeguard our way of life.
Zone 3: In Appreciation. This zone is an appreciation of families, individuals and employers for their continued support towards NS. Visitors can also pledge their support for NS and express their thanks to national servicemen. There is also a segment for visitors to capture their NS moments.
Kids Zone. Situated at the second level of the F1 Pit Building, this zone will engage kids with activities such as a mini obstacle course, balloon sculpting, and face painting with camo-cream. There will also be opportunities for kids to dress up in virtual Army uniforms for photo moments. To complete the experience, there will be a mini campsite and a jungle maze.
Technology Zone. This segment offers visitors a glimpse into the future battle arena with exhibits from the Army and respective defence partners.
Experience The Night. Visitors can experience operating in darkness with the aid of Night Vision Goggles through a mission-based night walk that will elicit the smell, sights and sounds of an outfield mission.
Drone Arena. Drone-flying enthusiasts can enjoy flying their drones in the indoor enclosure by bringing their own drones (≤250g) to the F1 Pit Building. Visitors will need to book a slot on-site to fly their drone.
Be A Marksman. Visitors can experience firing Singapore's very own SAR 21 rifle at the Firing Range. They can also form teams to participate in a simulated five-on-five combat against other participating teams. Visitors will need to make a booking on-site to take part.
Battle Rides. Visitors can experience what it is like to be on board the SAF's military platforms. Cruise down the waters of Marina Bay on the M3G military raft; take to the skies on the Chinook; and ride in some of the Army's most recognisable platforms such as the Terrex Infantry Carrier Vehicle, the Bionix Armoured Fighting Vehicle, and the Peacekeeper Protected Response Vehicle. Visitors will need to make a booking on-site to take part.
Soldier Strong Arena. Visitors can experience how sports science, fitness equipment and wearable technology have transformed the Army's fitness programme to train fit and strong soldiers through science-based exercises and informative lessons. Visitors can also put their fitness to the test with the tyre-pull and push-up challenges.
Soldier Strong Obstacle Course. This zone includes a series of obstacles for visitors to unleash their inner warrior and test their mettle. Designed to allow adults to participate alongside kids, families are encouraged to participate in the Soldier Strong Obstacle Course Challenge for a memorable family moment. Visitors will need to make a booking on-site to take part.
Army Showcase. The Army Showcase will be a feast for the senses. It features a Day Showcase, and a Night Showcase for the first time in AOH. Visitors can look forward to seeing the Red Lions, SAF Band and a variety of military vehicles.
Main Stage. Experience incredible vibes and soulful musical performances put up by various artists from So Drama! Entertainment (SDE) and more at the Main Stage.
Army Careers. For visitors who are keen to explore an Army career, AOH22 offers an opportunity to gain better understanding of the Army and career pathways available. There are recruitment talks and Army ambassadors present to share more about their career journeys. Enquiries can be made at the Army Recruitment Centre booth located at the Army Formations Zone.
SAFRA Family Day Out – NS Family Camp. Organised by SAFRA from 27 to 28 May in conjunction with AOH22, the overnight camp is open to Operationally Ready National Servicemen (NSmen), SAFRA members and their families. It includes a guided tour of AOH22 and viewing of the Night Show at the F1 Pit Building. Participants will also have the chance to engage in a series of NS-inspired activities such as tent pitching, a family exercise session and a route march to simulate a Basic Military Training (BMT) graduation parade. An initiative of the Advisory Council on Community Relations in Defence (ACCORD), the camp is organised in commemoration of NS55 and SAFRA50, and supported by Families for Life. AOH22@Heartlands
Visitors who wish to visit AOH22 after May can do so at as the open house moves to the heartlands in June: (i) Punggol from 3 to 5 June; and (ii) Bishan from 10 to 12 June. Refer to Annex C for more information.
Army Formations, Soldier Strong Arena, and Kids Zone. Interactive exhibits from various Army Formations will be brought over from the F1 Pit Building.
Be A Marksman. Visitors can experience firing Singapore's very own SAR 21 rifle loaded with Smart Magazines.
SAFRA Punggol Weekend Fun. Organised by SAFRA Punggol from 2 to 5 June in conjunction with AOH22@Heartlands (Punggol), NSmen and their families can enjoy a series of NS-inspired and wellness activities at the club.
