The Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) Commandos and the Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) Special Forces Command (KOPASSUS) successfully concluded Exercise Chandrapura (XCP) 2022. Held in Singapore from 22 to 29 August, this year's edition of the annual bilateral exercise involved vocational sharing, professional exchanges and honing of combat skills through vocation obstacle course and Urban Operations (UO) training.

Over 100 personnel from the SAF's 1st Commando Battalion and the TNI KOPASSUS exchanged professional knowledge in commando tactics, techniques, and planning procedures, trained in the vocation obstacle course, executed an UO live-firing and a bilateral static line parachute jump. These activities helped to build confidence, deepen friendships and strengthen mutual understanding between soldiers from the two armies.

XCP 2022 concluded with an exchange of airborne wings during the closing ceremony, which was co-officiated by the SAF's Chief Commando Officer Colonel (COL) Pang Chee Kong and the TNI's Danjen KOPASSUS Major General Iwan Setiawan. In his closing speech, COL Pang commended the participants on the successful conduct of the exercise. He said, "Today, all our exercise participants standing proudly here are part of this network of friendships, brotherhood and special trust that are built upon our past cooperation. I hope that we will cherish the shared experiences and friendships forged in this exercise."

First conducted in 1994, this year marked the 28th edition in the series and underscores the close and long-standing defence relations between Singapore and Indonesia. Besides bilateral exercises, the Singapore and Indonesian armies engage in a wide range of activities such as visits, professional exchanges and cross-attendance of courses. These regular interactions enhance professionalism and foster mutual understanding between the two armed forces.
