Latvian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence Makes Introductory Visit to Singapore

Latvian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence Dr Artis Pabriks is in Singapore for an introductory visit from 2 to 5 December 2021. Dr Pabriks called on Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen after inspecting the Guard of Honour at the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) this morning.

During the meeting, Dr Ng and Dr Pabriks affirmed their support to enhance bilateral defence cooperation between Singapore and Latvia, underscored by the signing of a memorandum by the two Ministers to strengthen defence cooperation in areas of mutual interest, such as exchanges in defence policy, total defence and citizen engagement. Both sides also exchanged views on geopolitical and security developments.

Dr Pabriks' visit highlights the warm ties and the growing defence cooperation between Singapore and Latvia. As part of his programme, Dr Pabriks will call on Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan later in the afternoon.

Relevant health checks and safety measures were taken by the visiting delegation.
