CITATION

Dr Ng Gee Wah, Director (Information Exploitation), DSO, has contributed significantly to the research and development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data Analytics for the past 21 years. His work has revolutionised traditional operations and processes, providing new capabilities to the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) on multiple fronts, from intelligence to combat management, as well as surveillance systems.

One notable example is the development of an Intelligence System for the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) which shortened their turnaround time for flight analysis from hours to minutes. Another example is the advancement in the variant of reinforcement learning which is introduced in Intelligent Computer Generated Forces (iCGF). This is an adaptive and self-learning program which will provide realistic and challenging adversary simulation training for trainees.

Dr Ng not only leads multi-disciplinary teams in DSO that are instrumental in developing new capabilities and pioneering new possibilities of AI, he is also building up teams and inspiring the future generations as an Adjunct Associate Professor at the National University of Singapore.

In recognition of his outstanding achievements and contributions, Dr Ng Gee Wah is awarded the DTP 2018 Individual (R&D) Award. 

AWARDS

Dr Ng has also received multiple DTP awards for his contribution in command and control systems, radar surveillance system and data fusion technology in 2002, 2005 and 2011 respectively.
