German Cyber Chief Makes Introductory Visit to Singapore

The Chief of Germany's Cyber & Information Domain Service (CIDS) Lieutenant-General (LG) Ludwig Leinhos called on Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen at the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) this morning.

During their meeting, Dr Ng and LG Leinhos reaffirmed efforts to explore bilateral defence cooperation in areas of mutual interest, such as cyber defence, following the signing of the enhanced Defence Cooperation Agreement on the sidelines of the 17th Shangri-La Dialogue in June 2018. Both sides also discussed the prevalence of non-conventional threats such as cyber attacks and fake news, and its impact and implications on militaries worldwide.

LG Leinhos, who is on his introductory visit to Singapore from 8 to 10 August 2018, also called on Permanent Secretary for Defence Mr Chan Yeng Kit and Chief of Defence Force LG Melvyn Ong earlier today. As part of his programme, LG Leinhos visited cyber and technology agencies in Singapore, and participated in a roundtable discussion with Deputy Secretary (Special Projects)/Defence Cyber Chief, Mr David Koh.

LG Leinhos' visit underscores the warm and growing defence relations between Singapore and Germany. Both countries enjoy regular defence interactions across multiple areas, such as high-level visits, military exchanges, professional courses, policy dialogues and technology collaboration.
