Search Efforts for Missing Full-Time National Serviceman led by Commander TRADOC

The Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) is augmenting search efforts for missing Full-time National Serviceman Lance-Corporal (LCP) Muhammad Fahrurrazi Bin Salim with a team led by Commander Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), Brigadier General Lim Hock Yu who is overall in charge of the search operations. The SAF team flew to Brunei on 12 August 2012 via a Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) C-130.

LCP Fahrurrazi was reported missing in the Temburong training area on 12 August 2012. LCP Fahrurrazi was the coxswain in a convoy of four boats to provide safety coverage for the water crossing segment of a jungle training exercise. It was daylight during the incident with clear weather and water conditions were calm. An investigation has been initiated.

Search and rescue operations by the SAF, supported by the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), have continued through the night and are ongoing. More than 250 troops from both SAF and RBAF, together with 16 SAF and RBAF naval divers, are currently involved in the search and rescue operation. They are supported by nine SAF and four RBAF boats, along with three RSAF Super Puma helicopters.

LCP Fahrurrazi's parents and younger sister are currently in Brunei, accompanied by SAF family liaison officers. The SAF is currently rendering the necessary assistance to the serviceman's family.
