Bruneian Armed Forces Chief Receives Prestigious Military Award

The Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), Major-General (MG) Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, was conferred Singapore's prestigious military award, the Pingat Jasa Gemilang (Tentera) or Meritorious Service Medal (Military)], by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence Teo Chee Hean, at an investiture held at the Ministry of Defence this morning.

MG Aminuddin, who was Commander of the Royal Brunei Land Forces in his previous appointment, was conferred the award in recognition of his significant contributions in strengthening the excellent ties between the armies of Brunei and Singapore. Under the leadership of MG Aminuddin, the interactions and cooperation between the two armies have grown from strength to strength. Both armies engage regularly in a wide range of activities, which include bilateral exercises, courses and professional exchanges. These extensive interactions have strengthened the rapport and camaraderie between personnel of both armies.

MG Aminuddin, who is in Singapore for an introductory visit from 8 to 10 Jun 2010, called on Mr Teo and Chief of Defence Force MG Neo Kian Hong before the investiture. He will be visiting the Murai Urban Training Facility and the Information Fusion Centre at the Changi Command and Control Centre tomorrow.
