The Institute for Military Learning (IML) is established to provide the SAF with the executive arm to professionalise the instructor corps and position SAF to be a leader in adult learning. IML conducts Training Development & Instructional (TD&I) courses and Continuing Professional Education programmes for all SAF TD&I practitioners, ranging from junior instructors to Training Institute Commanders. IML is the Training Institute (TI) for all SAF Training Development & Instructional Practitioners to hone their competencies. It also drives Training Institute Excellence in all SAF Training Institutes through the Training Institute Excellence Model (TIEM) assessment and certification.

Some of these courses are embedded into the route of advancement courses in order to enhance their role as SAF Development & Instructional Practitioners. Basic competencies are also developed in the junior leaders, including NSFs in Officer and Specialist Cadet Courses. In addition, IML courses allow recognition for Workforce Skill Qualification (WSQ). This gives our graduates national level recognition.”
