A Dream Come True

I am Darwin Lee, and have recently attained my Pilot Wings from the Singapore Youth Flying Club (SYFC)! My passion for flying started when I was young – my father is an RSAF Fighter pilot, and he would often share his experiences and stories with me. He would also take me to the RSAF Open Houses and air shows. When I first sat in the cockpit of an aircraft, I already imagined how it would be like to fly it one day. It is truly a dream come true for me!

Inspired by my father, I am currently training to be an RSAF Pilot. I feel that the Air Force can offer me a very fulfilling and challenging career. It is more than just flying – there are many opportunities to do meaningful things that can impact the lives of others, such as going on Humanitarian Aid and Disaster Relief missions, Search and Rescue missions, and most importantly, defending our skies and ensuring peace in Singapore.

My family support has enabled me to make it this far. There have been times when training was tough, and a bad flight experience can take an emotional toll on me. However, the comforting words from my parents made me push through and stay determined. I know that they will always have my back as long as I do my best. One useful advice from my father was: "Flying is not easy. It may be a challenging career but the tough trainings will make you a better and stronger person.”

I will also treasure all the friendships and bonds made with 32 other Student Pilots who graduated with me at SYFC. Hope to fly with them someday!
