MAJ Eric Lim, 35 Infantry officer, currently studying in NTU Tannia Goh, 31 Corp Comms Associate Manager, Dimension Data

For this couple, the perfect date would be just an activity that lets them spend quality time together. Being parents of two young children four-year-old Arissa and two-year-old Sasha it can be quite challenging, but Major (MAJ) Eric Lim and Tannia Goh make an effort to carve out some couple time at least once a month.

These polar opposites he loves going out and she's a homebody were introduced by a mutual friend in 2008. Unfortunately, that date didn't go well as he arrived late. Luckily, the third time was the charm: to win her over, he studied her social media page to learn her likes and dislikes.

Fast forward to 2011, he got on one knee and proposed to her using placards la Love Actually during a romantic dinner in Boracay, Philippines. They were married eight months later.

MAJ Lim began a Master of Mass Communications course at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) this year, as part of the SAF-NTU Continuing Education Master's Programme, while she works in corporate communications.

Fittingly, it was learning how to communicate better that helped the couple get closer after a challenging first year.

"We had many differences in our upbringing and lifestyle," shared Ms Goh. "But every time we fought, it was an opportunity to know each other better. Ultimately, we saw the possibility of something good together so we worked on our communication."
