07 Jun 21

The Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) has deployed for the third edition of Exercise Pacific Griffin. Two Formidable-class frigates, RSS Tenacious and RSS Stalwart, one Independence-class Littoral Mission Vessel, RSS Fearless, and a training ship, MV Avatar, will participate in the bilateral exercise with the United States Navy (USN). Last held in 2019, the RSN and USN will conduct Exercise Pacific Griffin in waters off Guam.

Conducted since 2017, Exercise Pacific Griffin is part of a series of regular bilateral exercises between the RSN and the USN. The exercise reflects the excellent and long-standing bilateral defence relations between Singapore and the US, and enhances coordination and mutual understanding between the two navies.

Prior to their deployment, all RSN personnel underwent pre-departure isolation and tested negative for COVID-19.The RSN has also been working closely with our US counterparts to ensure that the necessary health and safety precautions will be put in place.
