When There's a Will, There's a Way

(Caption for photo above) How's online meetings for you? For these 30/20 ISC trainees who had a recent dialogue digitally with Master Chief Navy, they found themselves more at ease and eager to share their thoughts.

All aspects of training carries on in our schoolhouses, albeit with some changes - some components are conducted remotely, with daily online sessions with instructors.

Engaging our people and listening to their opinions matters. But when we implemented the circuit breaker measures, that meant we could not meet face-to-face. Undeterred, our schoolhouses found creative (and safe!) solutions to bridge the gap so that we can continue to facilitate dialogues so that our young trainees can still engage in dialogues with our senior leadership.

All graduating classes of principal warfare officers (PWOs) in the Navy have a discussion with CNV before they complete their course. This batch made sure they didn't miss out, despite the current circuit breaker measures.

CNV and the graduands enjoyed an enriching discussion on the expectations of being a PWO and shared their thoughts on assuming more responsibility on board ships and submarines.

Dialogue and discussion continue to be key for leadership development, and warfighters always find a way to do what's important.
