Total Defence Video

Over the past years, we have seen how our way of life can be affected by different forms of threats and challenges – the COVID-19 pandemic, Russia-Ukraine war, ongoing geopolitical tensions, terrorism, natural disasters and climate change. These events, whether near or far, have highlighted the need for us to stay united and be resilient, so as to be ready for any crisis or disruption.

In this Total Defence video, we hear from fellow Singaporeans why they think it is important that each of us play our part for Total Defence and see how individuals from all walks of life and local businesses came together to help the community in times of need.

As we commemorate Total Defence Day on 15 Feb, let us commit to play our part and put Total Defence into action, so that we can stand strong and be ready as a nation to withstand any threat or challenge.

Event

Launched on Total Defence Day 2022, the first Total Defence Trail featured six locations representing the six pillars of Total Defence such as The Float @ Marina Bay. The trail attracted over 5,000 participants.

This year, the new Total Defence Trail 2.0 takes the public to Singapore’s east to explore five sites related to Total Defence including NEwater Visitor Gallery, and the Changi Chapel and Museum. The exploration of the trail on foot encourages Singaporeans to keep active while learning more about Singapore’s history, while also finding out more about topics such as water sustainability.

The new trail is designed by a team of Singapore Management University (SMU) students who submitted their proposal to the Total Defence Sandbox, a platform that encourages the public to share ideas on strengthening Total Defence and have their ideas brought to life through implementation in the community.

GameOn Nila! is a gamification in the ActiveSG mobile application where members of public are encouraged to keep active and healthy through exploring Singapore. In the game, they level up by clocking steps and scanning QR codes via the various trails available to gain Active Points. Players will then get to use the Active Points to ballot for attractive prizes. BACKGROUND

Created by a pair of university students as part of their submission to the Total Defence Sandbox, the Total Defence Murder Mystery Role Play Game "The Melody of Waves" is an immersive social deduction game involving up to seven players. Fashioned as a murder mystery, it aims to both entertain and educate Singaporeans on the importance of Total Defence and the various evolving security threats we face today.

SYNOPSIS OF THE GAME

"ECOTECH is a research organisation that investigates climate threats and mysteries. One day, a spine-chilling nursery rhyme - "The Melody of Waves" - begins to play within ECOTECH, with lyrics resembling a doomsday prophecy. As the staff arrives at the conference room, they discover the CEO's dead body."
