

The German Chief of Cyber and Information Domain Service (CIDS) Vice Admiral (VADM) Dr. Thomas Daum called on Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen at the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) this afternoon. During their meeting, Dr Ng and VADM Dr. Daum reaffirmed the warm and growing defence relations between Singapore and Germany, as well as the commitment to strengthen bilateral defence cooperation in areas of mutual interest such as in cyber-security. They also exchanged views on geopolitical developments and discussed ways to work together to promote and support the rules-based international order.
VADM Dr. Daum who is in Singapore from 17 to 21 October 2022 for his introductory visit, also called on Chief of Defence Force Lieutenant-General Melvyn Ong and Director of Military Intelligence/Chief of the Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence (C4I) Brigadier-General Lee Yi-Jin and inspected the Guard of Honour in MINDEF, prior to calling on Dr Ng.
Singapore and Germany cooperate and interact consistently through high-level visits and dialogues, military to military exchanges, cross attendance of professional courses, technology collaboration as well as cyber cooperation. These interactions have reinforced the professional ties between the two defence establishments, underpinned by the enhanced Defence Cooperation Agreement signed in 2018.
