Commander of the Royal Brunei Navy Makes Introductory Visit to Singapore

The Commander of the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) First Admiral (FADM) Dato Seri Pahlawan Spry bin Haji Serudi @ Haji Seruji called on Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen at the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) this afternoon. During their meeting, Dr Ng and FADM Dato Spry reaffirmed the close and long-standing bilateral defence relationship between Singapore and Brunei.

FADM Dato Spry, who is in Singapore from 29 March to 1 April 2022 for his introductory visit, also called on Chief of Defence Force Lieutenant-General Melvyn Ong and inspected the Guard of Honour at MINDEF earlier today. As part of his visit, FADM Dato Spry visited RSS Singapura - Changi Naval Base yesterday, where he called on Chief of Navy Rear-Admiral Aaron Beng and was briefed on the conduct of operations and capabilities of the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN)'s Sentinel-class Maritime Security and Response Vessels (MSRV), on board the MSRV Bastion.

FADM Dato Spry's visit underscores the close and long-standing bilateral defence relations between Singapore and Brunei. The RSN and the RBN interact regularly through bilateral exercises and passage exercises such as Exercise Pelican, cross-attendance of courses, professional exchanges and visits. These regular interactions have enhanced cooperation and deepened mutual understanding between both navies, and strengthened people-to-people ties between personnel.

Relevant health checks and safety measures were taken by the visiting delegation.
