India Chief of the Army Staff Makes Introductory Visit to Singapore

The India Chief of the Army Staff, General (GEN) Manoj Mukund Naravane called on Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen at the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) this morning. During their meeting, Dr Ng and GEN Naravane reaffirmed the strong and long-standing bilateral defence relationship between Singapore and India, and discussed regional geopolitical developments.

GEN Naravane, who is in Singapore on an introductory visit from 4 to 6 April 2022, also called on Chief of Army Brigadier-General David Neo after inspecting the Guard of Honour at MINDEF. As part of his visit, GEN Naravane will visit the Infantry Gunnery and Tactical Simulator at Pasir Laba Camp later today. Tomorrow, GEN Naravane will visit the Changi Regional HADR Coordination Centre and Information Fusion Centre at Changi Naval Base. GEN Naravane will also deliver a speech at the Goh Keng Swee Command and Staff College's Distinguished Speaker's Dialogue titled, "India's Strategic Perspective".

GEN Naravane's visit underscores the strong and long-standing bilateral defence relations between Singapore and India. The Singapore Army and the Indian Army interact regularly through bilateral exercises, professional exchanges, visits and cross-attendance of courses. These mutually beneficial interactions have deepened the bilateral defence relationship, enhanced mutual understanding and strengthened the cooperation between the two armies.
