Background

Restructuring of the Next-Generation Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) is underway to ensure that the SAF remains relevant, responsive and effective for Singapore's national defence against an evolving security environment.

Formation of HQ Sense & Strike

Headquarters Sense & Strike (HQ SS) was inaugurated last November integrating the Army's tactical intelligence and fires capabilities. It involved the reorganisation of Headquarters Army Intelligence and Headquarters Singapore Artillery under 6 Division (6 Div), as part of the Army's transformation towards the Next-Generation Army.

The new 6 Div/HQ SS will spearhead cross-domain expertise to integrate the Army's tactical intelligence and fires capabilities with manoeuvre forces. The new formation will focus on developing and strengthening the Army's sense and strike elements to operationalise new capabilities and fighting concepts, allowing the Next-Generation Army to see better and shoot faster with less manpower.
