Commander of the US Indo-Pacific Command Makes Introductory Visit to Singapore

 

Commander of the US Indo-Pacific Command (INDOPACOM), Admiral (ADM) John C. Aquilino, called on Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen at the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) today. During their meeting, Dr Ng and ADM Aquilino reaffirmed the long-standing and multi-faceted defence partnership between Singapore and the US, and discussed initiatives to strengthen the trust and cooperation between the Singapore Armed Forces and the US INDOPACOM moving forward.

ADM Aquilino, who is in Singapore from 18 to 20 July 2021 for his introductory visit, also called on Chief of Defence Force Lieutenant-General Melvyn Ong and reviewed a Guard of Honour prior to calling on Dr Ng. ADM Aquilino will be visiting the Counter-Terrorism Information Facility later today.

ADM Aquilino's visit underscores the excellent defence relations between Singapore and the US. The two defence establishments interact regularly through bilateral and multilateral exercises, high-level visits, professional exchanges and cross-attendance of courses. These mutually beneficial interactions have enhanced the professionalism of both armed forces, deepened mutual understanding and forged strong camaraderie between their personnel.

Relevant health checks and safety measures were taken by the visiting delegation.
