Digital connectivity plays a large part in Singapore's survival and prosperity. The connectivity among our military systems also enables the SAF to operate at the leading edge of technology and operational readiness. For this reason, Digital Defence was added as a new pillar in Singapore's Total Defence framework, underscoring the importance of cyber defence to Singapore's national security.

MINDEF launched the Cyber Work-Learn Scheme in Feb 2018 and Digital Work-Learn Scheme in Mar 2022 to allow Full-time National Servicemen the opportunity to train for and contribute to Singapore's Digital Defence. In Feb 2019, MINDEF introduced the Cyber Military Experts (C4X) scheme for those interested in pursuing a career in cybersecurity with MINDEF/SAF.
