Chief of Staff of Indonesian Army Makes Introductory Visit to Singapore

The Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Army (TNI-AD) General (GEN) Andika Perkasa called on Senior Minister of State for Defence Dr Mohamad Maliki Bin Osman this morning.

GEN Andika, who is in Singapore for his introductory visit from 10 to 13 July 2019, also called on Chief of Defence Force Lieutenant-General Melvyn Ong and Chief of Army Major-General Goh Si Hou, after inspecting a Guard of Honour at the Ministry of Defence earlier in the morning. Both sides reaffirmed the strong ties and close professional cooperation between the two armies, and reiterated their mutual commitment to continue to strengthen defence ties. GEN Andika also visited the Singapore Army’s Headquarters 3rd Singapore Division this afternoon. As part of his visit programme, GEN Andika will be visiting the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) – TNI Army Interaction Games on 12 July 2019.

GEN Andika's introductory visit underscores the close and long-standing defence relations between Singapore and Indonesia. The Singapore Army and TNI-AD interact regularly through high-level visits, professional exchanges, cross-attendance of courses and bilateral exercises, such as Exercise Chandrapura which concluded earlier today in Indonesia. These extensive interactions have strengthened interoperability and deepened mutual understanding between the two armies.
