About N.E.mation! 2019

N.E.mation! is an annual digital animation competition organised by Nexus for students and youth to express their thoughts about Total Defence. N.E.mation! 2019 received over 700 entries and had over 1,300 participants. The theme for N.E.mation! 2019 is "Together We Keep Singapore Strong", which calls on participants to create digital animation clips to encourage Singaporeans to put Total Defence into action.

CATEGORIES

N.E.mation! 2019 includes two categories, namely the Student Category and the Youth Category. The Youth Category is a new addition to N.E.mation! 2019.

a. Student Category. The Student Category is open to students from 13 to 16 years old. Students were invited to form teams of three to four members and to submit a creative pitch based on the theme. The participants had little to no experience in animation. With the help of industry professionals, they were trained to produce broadcast-quality clips for many platforms, including free-to-air television.

b. Youth Category. The Youth Category is open to individuals aged 17 to 25 years old who are enrolled in post-secondary educational institutions. The finalist teams produced their clips independently. The Youth Category clips were also broadcasted on various media platforms, including free-to-air television, cinemas and online.

N.E.MATION! 2019 RESULTS

The winning clips from both categories were determined by a combination of public votes (50%) and the decision by a panel of judges (50%) comprising industry professionals, academics and representatives from government agencies. The public voted for the various N.E.mation! 2019 clips online from 19 January 2019 to 10 February 2019 at www.nemation.sg.
