Commander of the Royal Brunei Land Forces Receives Prestigious Military Award

Commander of the Royal Brunei Land Forces (RBLF) Brigadier General (BG) Dato Seri Pahlawan Awang Khairul Hamed bin Awang Haji Lampoh was conferred Singapore's prestigious military award, the Pingat Jasa Gemilang (Tentera), or Meritorious Service Medal (Military), by President Halimah Yacob. Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen presented the award to BG Dato Seri Pahlawan Awang Khairul Hamed at an investiture held at the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) this morning.

BG Dato Seri Pahlawan Awang Khairul Hamed was conferred the award for his significant contributions in strengthening bilateral defence ties between the RBLF and the Singapore Army. Under BG Dato Seri Pahlawan Awang Khairul Hamed's leadership, bilateral cooperation has expanded and deepened. The bilateral exercises, Exercise Maju Bersama and Exercise Rintis Bersama, continue to underpin the long-standing defence relationship between both armies. Bilateral ties have also grown through regular visits, professional exchanges, and the cross attendance of courses. Such interactions and exchanges have fostered mutual understanding and enhanced interoperability between the two militaries, and strengthened the rapport and camaraderie between personnel of both armies.

BG Dato Seri Pahlawan Awang Khairul Hamed, who is in Singapore from 3 to 5 December 2019, also called on Dr Ng and reviewed a Guard of Honour at MINDEF this morning prior to the investiture.
