Reply to SMDN's Query on Regular Serviceman Charged in Court

The Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) holds its servicemen to high standards of discipline and integrity. In general, servicemen who are under investigation, or who have criminal or disciplinary proceedings instituted against them, may be suspended from duty. During this period of suspension, all or any portion of the pay of a suspended serviceman may be withheld. A suspended serviceman convicted of the charge(s) against him may continue to be suspended from duty, pending a review of his continued service with the SAF.

For this case, the serviceman’s appeal against his conviction was dismissed by the Military Court of Appeal on 17 August 2018 and he remains suspended from duty.
