Philippine Army Chief Makes Introductory Visit to Singapore

Commanding General of the Philippine Army Lieutenant-General (LTGEN) Rolando Joselito Delizo Bautista called on Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen at the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) this morning.

During their meeting, Dr Ng and LTGEN Bautista reaffirmed the warm and friendly defence relations between Singapore and the Philippines, and noted the good progress made in deepening the relationship between the two armies. They discussed the long-term nature of the terrorist threat in the region, as well as the need for both countries to remain vigilant and sustain efforts in counter-terrorism (CT). Dr Ng and LTGEN Bautista also reaffirmed the importance of the bilateral Urban Operations professional exchange held in Dec 2017, and highlighted their continual support for such exchanges to enhance CT capabilities.

LTGEN Bautista, who is in Singapore for an introductory visit from 3 to 4 July 2018, also called on Chief of Defence Force Lieutenant-General Melvyn Ong and Chief of Army Brigadier-General Goh Si Hou after reviewing a Guard of Honour at MINDEF earlier today. LTGEN Bautista will visit the SAFTI Military Institute and the Murai Urban Training Facility in the afternoon, where he will be briefed on the Centre for Army Lessons Learnt and the SAF’s Next Gen SAFTI City.

LTGEN Bautista will also be sharing on the Philippine Army’s experience in combating terrorism in the city of Marawi at the ASEAN Armies Information Sharing Workshop tomorrow.
