Fact Sheet: Republic of Singapore Air Force Mobilisation Exercise 2018

INTRODUCTION

The Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) is an operationally ready fighting force capable of executing full spectrum operations. The RSAF conducts mobilisation exercises (MOBEX) regularly to validate the operational readiness of units on manning duties, as well as to ensure that the SAF's activation processes are kept warm and relevant.

MOBILISATION EXERCISE FOR RSAF FIGHTER GROUP 2018

As part of the 20 to 30 mobilisation and equipping exercises conducted by the Singapore Armed Forces each year, the RSAF conducted an open mobilisation exercise on 9 Dec 2018 where Active and Operationally Ready National Servicemen (NSmen) from five fighter Squadrons reported to Changi Air Base, Paya Lebar Air Base and Tengah Air Base.

These servicemen are part of the Air Combat Command's Fighter Group and include aircrews and ground crews that ensure the readiness and operate the fighter aircraft to safeguard Singapore's skies and sovereignty.

IMPORTANCE OF AIR DEFENCE TO SAFEGUARD SINGAPORE'S SKIES

As a small country with no strategic depth, it is critical that Singapore possesses an effective and ready Air Force as the first line of deterrence and defence.

The positive mobilisation results at today's MOBEX demonstrated the readiness, commitment and will of the RSAF personnel to defend our home when called upon. It bears testament of the RSAF's capability and readiness to respond to threats to our sovereignty and security swiftly and decisively.
