Royal Brunei Land Forces Commander Makes Introductory Visit to Singapore

Commander of the Royal Brunei Land Forces (RBLF) Brigadier General (BG) Awang Khairul Hamed bin Awang Haji Lampoh called on Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen this morning. During their meeting, Dr Ng and BG Khairul Hamed reaffirmed the close and long-standing bilateral defence relationship between Singapore and Brunei.

BG Khairul Hamed, who is in Singapore for his introductory visit from 9 to 11 April 2018, also called on Chief of Defence Force Major-General Melvyn Ong and Chief of Army BG Goh Si Hou, as well as reviewed a Guard of Honour at the Ministry of Defence earlier today. As part of his programme, BG Khairul Hamed visited the SAFTI Military Institute this afternoon, where he was briefed on the institute's learning and training frameworks. He also visited the Headquarters, 4th Singapore Armoured Brigade at Sungei Gedong Camp today.

BG Khairul Hamed's visit underscores the close and long-standing defence relationship between Singapore and Brunei. The Singapore Army and the RBLF interact regularly through bilateral exercises such as Exercise Maju Bersama and Exercise Rintis Bersama, cross-attendance of courses, professional exchanges and regular visits. Such interactions have fostered mutual understanding and enhanced interoperability between the two armies, as well as forged strong rapport and camaraderie among their personnel.
