The SAF Sends Humanitarian Aid to Bangladesh

A Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) KC-135R aircraft will airlift humanitarian supplies worth approximately S$270,000 to Bangladesh over two days to provide relief to the displaced persons affected by the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Rakhine State. The relief package, comprising tents, blankets, food, medical supplies, and lamps were donated by both the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) and Mercy Relief.  The first wave was delivered this morning, and the second wave will be delivered tomorrow.

Today's aid supplies were handed over to Chittagong Divisional Commissioner Md Abdul Mannan by the SAF Mission Commander, Senior Lieutenant Colonel Lim Lit Lam, from the Changi Regional Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief Coordination Centre (RHCC), witnessed by Senior Minister of State for Defence Dr Mohamad Maliki Bin Osman.

Since conveying the Singapore Government's offers of humanitarian assistance to the Governments of Bangladesh and Myanmar on 29 September 2017, the SAF has been working closely with the Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mercy Relief and the Government of Bangladesh to coordinate the delivery of the aid supplies to meet the needs of the displaced persons.
