In response to media queries on the RSAF’s 142 Squadron, the following MINDEF reply was issued:

"142 Squadron was formed in 1974 as an A-4 Squadron. It was recently assigned as an F-15SG squadron. The F-15SG is an advanced multi-role fighter, giving the squadron the capability of carrying out both Air-to-Air and Air-to-Ground missions. 142 Squadron also has an added role of training new F-15SG aircrew. The setting up of a second F-15SG squadron will better enable the RSAF to develop the full spectrum of the F-15SG's air-to-air and air-to-ground roles."
