Bringing Total Defence Messages to Life with N.E.mation!

Senior Minister of State for Defence, Mr Ong Ye Kung, officiated at the N.E.mation! 10 awards presentation ceremony at the School of the Arts Singapore this evening, where he presented prizes to the winning teams of the annual N.E.mation! competition, including the champion team, NEtitanxII, from Beatty Secondary School, as well as the first and second runner-ups, BAMM and Spatium, both from CHIJ St. Nicholas Girls' School.

Speaking at the event, SMS Ong commended the students for their creativity and tenacity in producing the animation clips, and said that N.E.mation! is an excellent example of how youths can make Total Defence come alive through creative ways. He highlighted that past generations have played an important role in building a safe and secure nation in the last 50 years, and encouraged students to take ownership of Singapore's future. SMS Ong said, "We have come so far in 50 years, many generations of Singaporeans built what we have now. And really, the next 50 years depend on the young ones to score the winning goal." He added, "I hope you have learnt many lessons about Total Defence, and in the process know that nothing can be taken for granted".

N.E.mation! is a digital animation competition organised for youths to express their thoughts about Total Defence through one-minute animation clips. This year, a total of 475 teams and 1,701 students competed to produce animation clips around the theme of "Together We Keep Singapore Strong". The champion team, NEtitanxII, will go on a fully-sponsored trip to renowned animation studios in the United States.
