Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Army Receives Prestigious Military Award

Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Army General (GEN) Pramono Edhie Wibowo was conferred Singapore's prestigious military award, the Pingat Jasa Gemilang (Tentera) or Meritorious Service Medal (Military)], by Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen at an investiture held at the Ministry of Defence this afternoon.

The medal was awarded to GEN Pramono in recognition of his outstanding efforts and contributions in enhancing the excellent ties between the Indonesian Army and the Singapore Army. Under GEN Pramono's leadership, both armies have continued their close cooperation in a wide spectrum of activities, including bilateral exercises such as Chandrapura and Safkar Indopura, bilateral visits and personnel exchange programmes at various levels. These interactions have strengthened the professionalism and friendship between the personnel of the two armies.

GEN Pramono, who is in Singapore from 10 to 12 March 2012, had earlier called on Dr Ng, Chief of Defence Force Lieutenant-General Neo Kian Hong and Chief of Army Major-General Ravinder Singh before the investiture.
