6th Singapore Division / Headquarters Sense & Strike
Swift and Deadly

In War, 6th Singapore Division/Headquarters Sense & Strike is to plan and conduct operations as part of our Army's mission to secure a swift and decisive victory.

In Peace, 6th Singapore Division/Headquarters Sense & Strike is to maintain the Combined Arms Division at a high state of operational readiness for a spectrum of operations, as part of our Army's efforts to deter aggression.

Today, the Division stands proud amidst its many accomplishments, having forged strong ties with our foreign counterparts through bilateral training, and organised National Day Parades, as well as Army Open Houses. More recently, the Division also stood up the Health Surveillance Task Force at short notice as part of the nation’s fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Looking back, we have set records and won the 21km Army Half Marathon consecutively, the Dragon Boat Competition Regatta, and hosted our Cobra Challenge for many years with pride. In these events, our Cobra Spirit thrives. This spirit of excellence prevails in our training, our operations and our conduct. We never give up. Our people are our key assets and….

WE MAKE THE DIFFERENCE!

History

The 6th Singapore Division/Headquarters Sense & Strike traces its roots to the HQ Reserve, which contained the initial reserve units of National Service. As the HQ Reserve expanded in size, there bore a need for the reserve units to be trained and organised into proper Brigades and Division HQs. Within three months of the Division’s formation, the Division HQ was poised to take charge of a Brigade on its own, and in November 1976, HQ 6 SIB, the third reserve Brigade, was formed under our Command.

In 1991, as part of our Army’s reorganisation, 6th Singapore Division became a Combined Arms Division (CAD), possessing the operational readiness to plan and conduct operations to secure a swift and decisive victory in times of war, housing an Infantry and Armour Unit among others. In 1994, the Division’s operational readiness was enhanced with the addition of active units, further strengthening our capabilities.

In the 2000s, HQ 6th Singapore Division was relocated to Mandai Hill Camp, SAF’s first model camp. It provided the Division with infrastructure befitting of a CAD, and a unique opportunity to be in close proximity to the sub-units, bringing greater operational and administrative efficiencies.

In November 2020, in keeping with our Army’s Next-Generation transformation to remain relevant and effective against an evolving security environment, we welcomed the HQ Army Intelligence and HQ Singapore Artillery into our Cobra Family, in order to deepen our Army’s Sense & Strike expertise and competencies.

The 6th Singapore Division/Headquarters Sense & Strike will continue to be a Combined Arms Division of Excellence, maintaining a high state of operational readiness, while building the Army’s Defining Force through the delivery of our Army’s Sense & Strike capabilities. Guided by the Cobra Spirit, we will embrace this dual identity and strive to build a Competent, Confident, Committed and Cohesive Cobra Family.
