The SAF Scholarship

Application period: September - March annually

As an SAF Scholarship holder, you will be empowered with the skills and opportunities you need to reach the highest levels of leadership and management.

After you graduate, you will be expected to lead by example and inspire those who work alongside you. Through a series of command and staff appointments, you will be asked to plan, analyse and fight for our nation, using your drive and intelligence to give Singapore strategic and tactical advantages over anyone who dares stand against us.

WHAT IT COVERS
  • Full salary for the duration of overseas studies (including bonuses)
  • Full tuition fees and other approved academic charges
  • Maintenance and other allowances, e.g. books, clothing, computer
  • Return airfare
  • One-time sponsorship of summer exchange programmes
  • Sponsorship of up to 4 years of studies, inclusive of Master's degree if applicable
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
  • Singapore citizens or permanent residents intending to take up citizenship
  • Good GCE 'A' Level or International Baccalaureate results, Polytechnic Diploma (with Merit) or equivalent
  • Good co-curricular activities (CCA) records
  • Strong leadership qualities
  • Qualify for and excel in Officer Cadet School
  • Possess a strong interest in a military career

You may choose any of the following disciplines:

    • Arts / Social Sciences
    • Computer Science
    • Economics
    • Engineering
    • International Relations
    • Law*
    • Life Sciences
    • Mathematics
    • Philosophy, Politics and Economics
    • Political Science
    • Psychology
    • Science / Natural Sciences

You can choose your course of study with the exception of professional courses such as architecture, medicine, dentistry, etc. If you intend to pursue a degree in Law, do note that you will not be called to the Bar while serving in the SAF.

IS THERE A BOND?

The bond will be for 6 years, and will commence immediately upon graduation and return to service.
